Beletich Associates are the Operating Agent for the IEA 4E Electronic Devices and Networks Annex (EDNA).
EDNA focuses on networked devices and aims to ensure that the next generation of such devices use electricity as efficiently as possible. EDNA now has 10 member countries and two Tasks launched. Beletich Associates, with Mark Ellis & Associates, have also been appointed to coordinate the G20 project for networked devices.
Steven Beletich recently designed and developed a mobile device app for energy efficiency. “WattCheck” will calculate the energy consumption of a lighting system and assess the financial feasibility of upgrading the system to reduce energy use.
By inputting basic lighting system details, users can create any number of lighting “projects”. WattCheck then retrieves energy information for the types of lights chosen, and calculates project results such as lighting power density and annual running costs. Download from iTunes.
Steven Beletich conceived and designed the commercial lighting method of the (Australian) New South Wales Energy Savings Scheme. This method has been highly successful, dominating white certificate creation under the scheme, creating hundreds of new jobs and transforming the commercial lighting market in New South Wales. It was emulated in Victoria and is slated for inclusion in the Federal Emissions Reduction Fund. The key to its success is to allow lighting upgrade projects to be infinitely flexible.
Steven Beletich is a key architect of the phase-out of inefficient incandescent lamps in Australia; a world-first project. The decision to eliminate this dated technology from the market came about at a time of highly charged political debate about effective ways to tackle climate change. The phase-out was a highly visible response, had measurable impact on emissions and has come to pass with relatively little public backlash. It has now been emulated world-wide, including a UN-sponsored project which aims to encourage the entire planet to phase-out incandescent lamps. Steven has worked for various countries, including China, to assist with phasing out incandescent lamps.
Steven Beletich developed the calculations and assessment methodologies that underpin the tenancy lighting assessment component of the Australian Commercial Building Disclosure Legislation. This legislation requires that commercial spaces disclose their energy performance when advertised for sale or lease.
